LA can be a lonely place. So we thought—why not put everyone in a room, skip the small talk, and give you a real chance to connect? HOT MESS isn’t just a storytelling open mic. It’s a social experiment in laughter, vulnerability, and human connection.
🎤 The Stories: Five people will have the chance to take the mic and share a true story about life’s unexpected disasters. Want to tell a story? Just hit “Interested in telling a story” at checkout, or let us know when you check in at the event!
🤝 The Social Experiment: Before the mic opens, we’re kicking things off with Speed Friending & Active Listening—a fast-paced, fun way to swap mini-stories, break the ice, and get past the “So, what do you do?” conversation loop. No pressure, just real talk and new connections.

When you purchase your ticket, simply check the box that says "I have a story" to express your interest in becoming a storyteller.

Prepare a five-minute story about a time when life spiraled into chaos—a plan that unraveled, a moment of pure embarrassment, or a disaster you never saw coming. From kitchen catastrophes to fashion fails, workplace blunders to relationship mishaps, we want to hear about the gloriously messy moments that left a lasting mark. Bring us into the storm —and maybe, just maybe, show us the silver lining.
